The very essence of art lies in transcending reality by sublimating it. It does so by opening doors that allow us to perceive reality in new ways, no matter how difficult it may be: injustice or suffering, for instance, are illuminated through artworks, revealed above all through the aesthetics that convey them.
With the project VISIBLES MMXXV | Women Photographers Living in Zones of Conflict, Violence, or Humanitarian Crisis, our ambition is to use artistic photography as a medium to shed light on challenging social and humanitarian realities. And what better medium than photography itself—whose immediacy and realism grant full weight to a single moment frozen in time—to capture the complexity and shifting forms of societies grappling with profound social and humanitarian issues?
VISIBLES aims to make these realities visible through photographic art, but not just any kind: women’s photographic art, whose sensitivity offers a detailed rendering of lived experience. By giving women photographers the opportunity to navigate the humanitarian and social challenges of their countries, we restore to women’s photography its full depth, brilliance, and, of course, its visibility—all while shedding light on complex social and political contexts.
Thus, VISIBLES is more than a photography exhibition. It is a powerful artistic and feminist statement, aspiring to reveal beauty by extracting it from reality, all while promoting the talent of women photographers. Ultimately , our goal is to capture moments heavy with meaning, moments whose very existence is enough to provoke deep reflections on the power of art in difficult social and political contexts
If you are passionate about photography and wish to live this unique artistic experience, if you want to discover works that will spark reflection, then this exhibition is for you. Located at the Condorcet Campus in the Humatèque d’Aubervilliers, it is open to all art lovers. Students, professionals, art and photography enthusiasts—you are warmly invited to join us, exchange ideas, and enrich your artistic culture alongside a community of committed and talented artists and professionals.
